Probation Service Officers provide the Offender Manager role for those offenders who present a low to medium risk of harm to others (Tiers 1-3) and who also have a lesser likelihood of re offending. They work alongside Probation Officers and within teams managed by a Senior Probation Officer. Temporary appointments to Probation Service Officer posts will usually require a working knowledge of OASys.

PSO grade staff are also employed within accredited programmes (see Programme Tutors), Courts, Approved Premises and in specialist and or developmental projects.
