This post provides integral support to the Prison Service by dealing with members of the public, visitors and prisoners and in so doing helping to maintain security and good order throughout the estate. The tasks required of an OSG include:

• Checking visitors, contractors and staff in and out of the Prison
• Escorting vehicles and contractors within the establishment
• Patrolling the perimeter and grounds
• Working in Stores
• Working in Control Room
• Routine Administrative duties
• Driving or navigation duties
• Night Patrol

Whilst there are no formal academic qualifications required OSG's are required to have a reasonable level of written and numerical skills and to be able to work with computer systems.
