We are recruiting Transport Officers on temporary agency contracts for Serenity Welfare, a welfare service for children and young people and those on the edge of care.  The organisation has a clear mission statement to safeguard, nurture, educate and inspire children and young people towards safe, healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.

Serenity’s ethos is to provide young people with safe and secure travel with well trained, and compassionate staff who understand the crisis point which many young people have reached when accessing this service. We take pride in ensuring the young people are provided with a comfortable service which makes them feel valued and important. All young people are given an in-car comfort pack which includes: drinks and snacks, a blanket, cushion, and reading materials.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Providing a transport service of the highest distinction that offers young people comfort, care and safety
  • The transport arrangements for young people should support the ethos of the establishment to which they are being transported
  • 24 hour care and supervision service for vulnerable/high risk young people.
  • Risk assessing and planning each journey to ensure the right level of staffing levels will be provided.
  • Engage in a mentoring and coaching programme at the initial point of transportation to eliminate and reduce any potential conflict.
  • Provide a traveling pack with nourishments and a stress ball to promote a soothing and comfortable journey
  • This is a premium service and if successful you will be driving a brand new Mercedes provided by the company


Person Specification

  • Have experience of undertaking risk assessments
  • Have experience of working with vulnerable young people
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Understanding of restraining practices and de-escalation techniques
  • DBS (or willing to have one carried out)
  • Be highly flexible and be able to travel nationwide

 

The role of a Transport Officer gives you the opportunity to contribute to protecting vulnerable children by providing safe and secure transport services. The successful post holder will also provide emotional and practical support to ensure services user are safe from harm.
