Are you a confident and resilient individual with professional integrity with the ability to hit the ground running and deliver key messages to large groups of people?

If so, St Giles Trust is looking for a Senior Facilitator & Mentor to join our SOS+ team and oversee the delivery of a brand new service that will address these important social issues across the county of Hampshire.

About St Giles Trust

An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.

Our award-winning SOS+ Service works with young people in a variety of settings by delivering sessions and workshops in schools, Pupil Referral Units, Community Centres and to Youth Offender Teams. The mission of SOS+ is to prevent children and young people becoming involved in gangs and youth violence by equipping them with tools, knowledge and support delivered by experts with lived experience.

About this vital role

One of your main challenges will be to deliver structured sessions on knife crime, gangs, county lines drug smuggling and other criminal justice issues to young people, parents and professionals. However, we’ll also rely on you to provide 1:1 mentoring support for young people at-risk of exploitation and criminality aged 8-18 who have been identified needing additional support. In addition, as first point of contact, you’ll liaise with relevant funders, attend partnership meetings and ensuring the successful delivery of positive outcomes.

Maintaining the high standards of the project by supporting regional staff and volunteers will be important too, as will providing coaching, advice and guidance and compiling reports when required. And, when it comes to developing new sessions, training and session materials in partnership with the Service’s Team Leaders, working closely with the Willow Team (Working with Exploited Children) or travelling across the county to get the job done, again, we’ll count on you.

What we are looking for:

  • To have lived, personal experience of the Criminal Justice System, and/or being involved in a gang or knife crime
  • A confident public speaker/mentor with experience of partnership working who can coordinate a project without a team around them
  • Someone who is comfortable working alongside a variety of professionals in a Children’s Services team
  • A relevant qualification, or willingness to work towards one, plus knowledge of safeguarding practices and policies
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to use and develop monitoring systems to record all aspects of work
  • A full current driving licence and willingness to travel across Hampshire as required

In return, you can expect a competitive salary, generous leave allowance, access to clinical supervision, staff pension, flexible working, a mentoring programme, an advice and counselling service, season ticket loan and much more.
